NFL Week 9 Recap

It is Wednesday my dudes.

We're officially over halfway through the regular season with the playoff picture starting to take shape. Unfortunately, a team from the AFC South and the NFC South will have to get in.

The AFC North is looking like it may send 3 of its 4 teams to the postseason, with the Patriots being the odd one out. Different times, indeed.

2 of them faced off on Sunday when the Bills traveled to MetLife Stadium to play the Jets, although I'm not sure MetLife was quite ready for them. During the 3rd quarter, the skycam broke and it took over 12 minutes to fix it. So the Bills and Jets were treated to Halftime Part 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Noted Mom Pounder Zach Wilson fumbled after play resumed, but the Jets remained extremely competitive — moreso than people may have expected. With a 20-17 lead in the 4th, they still had to keep Josh Allen from getting into field goal range on the last drive of the game.

As it turns out, Allen is way less threatening when the defense doesn't let anybody catch the ball (why don't other teams just do this??). The Jets stunned the Bills. The Dolphins also won a thriller against the Bears, giving the 3 AFC North teams 6 wins apiece.

The Bears may have lost, but QB Justin Fields is looking better and better. He threw for 3 TDs and rushed for approximately 50 million yards. OK, 178. Still an NFL record.

Fields' scrambling was getting so out of hand for the Dolphins defense that Miami head coach Mike McDaniel straight-up told him to stop it. McDaniel was appalled that Fields didn't take the free coaching. McDaniel said after the game that in trying to figure out how to contain Fields, he settled on kindly telling him to stop — because nobody had tried that yet.

Worth a shot.

Anybody know what the Vegas odds are of the Raiders blowing a 17-0 lead to the Jaguars? It's more likely than you think.

The Jags were able to rally and beat the Raiders 27-20. I don't really have anything to add to that. The Raiders are just astoundingly bad.

It wasn't just the Raiders, though. Incompetence ran rampant around the league. The Colts were throttled by the Patriots which resulted in coach Frank Reich being fired. Aaron Rodgers threw 3 redzone INTs and lost to the Lions. The Rams and Buccs seemed like they were doing everything they could to steal an L from each other. The Panthers allowed Bengals RB Joe Mixon to score on them 5 times. Yes, Mixon had 5 TDs on Sunday, which is as many as the entire Arizona Cardinals offense has scored in the past 2 weeks combined.

AZ can be found at the bottom of the NFC West, falling further and further out of playoff contention as coach Kliff Kingsbury continues to be on the hot seat. DeAndre Hopkins was targeted only 5 times.

The Cards and Rams will fight it out next week to see who can get a better draft pick for next year. I'll have to recommend watching, uh... any of the other games, however.
